To get started with image compression, select an image inside of your PowerPoint PPT file. You may have to double-click the picture to select it and open the Format tab. Choose the Picture Format > Compress Pictures option to start compressing an image in PowerPoint. If you do not see the Picture Tools - Format tab, make sure that you selected a picture. The option to turn off picture compression in Outlook is available only after you have added a picture to an email message as an attachment. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Compress Pictures.
